The grain mill is here! Our fund-raising efforts from the last month have paid off, and we are now the proud owners of a mill for fresh flour. The mill will be available in the shop this month and from now on free of charge. You purchase the grains and regular price and put them through the machine to make flour from ultra fine, to kibble!
THANK YOU ALFALFA HOUSE COMMUNITY!
Healthy Digestion? Weds, Sept 7th at 7:30PM Caroline Will be teaching the Alfalfa House community all about healthy digestion. The Alfalfa House community seems to be in need of some honest, direct information on healthy digestion, whether its Ceoliacs, or a basic food intolerance. More and more people seem to need a a little advice. This should be a really rewarding and informative night. Contact Alfalfa House for MORE
Speaking of Grain the grain mill... Liz will be at Alfalfa House Saturday September 24th to do another baking course for those of you who missed out in August. Liz will be discussing a wide variety of breads, including a gluten free bread this time. Each person will make dough to take home and bake! We will be making some fresh flour in the new mill as well! Contact us for MORE

Last month we had Angel from IRUPANA where our quinoa, amaranth, and andean grain mix comes from in South America come and visit us in the co-op. Our friends at Olive Green Organics have been showing him around Sydney and this side of the supply chain. After a little delay, we had a lovely afternoon with him. Its always so nice to see our producers and growers in the shop!
Alfalfa House is dedicated to bringing our community non-packaged food. We do have a small shelf of tinned and jarred foods however. Our Tinned foods are where possbile not lined with BPA. These tins are available in bulk sizes as well, and we're happy to order them for you! Find out what else is new, back and out in Monika's IN THE BINS!.

THYME (Thymus vulgaris) is a commonly used culinary and medicinal herb.It is a Mediterranean low-growing perennial. Historically, thyme was an important herb. The Ancient Egyptians used it for embalming and the Ancient Greeks for bathing. It was the Romans, however, who were most likely responsible for the spread of its use throughout Europe This strong-smelling herb has small grey-green leaves.
For August our expert Naturopath, Elaine Parry, takes us through her DETAILED THYME GUIDE, from a-z!
Thank you all for attending out first herbal tea blending course! Look for more herbs, and teas courses in the near future!
