Volunteer at Alfalfa House

Volunteer inductions are back after a short break whilst we navigated restrictions due to COVID19. Please read below to find out more and see what's changed.

Alfalfa House has a small number of paid staff and relies considerably on the help of our fantastic volunteer network in order to run smoothly. To volunteer with AH, you must be a member. We are always looking for volunteers to help out with a range of tasks both in and out of the store. If you are looking for a way to connect with community and like minded people, this is a fantastic way to do it.

Volunteer discount

Volunteering two hours of your time earns you a 20% discount off the marked price of all goods (to be used in a single shop). If you are a permanent volunteer contributing eight hours or more per month, you will receive a 20% discount every time you shop with us.

Volunteer inductions

Before being able to volunteer, you must attend a 1 – 1.5 hour induction at Alfalfa House. The induction includes a guided tour of the shop, an overview of tasks to be completed and Alfalfa House policies.

Express your interest in attending an induction by completing the form on the right.  On the day, ensure you are wearing closed in shoes.

Volunteer positions

We encourage all our volunteers to commit to a regular 2 hour per a week  or fortnight time slot if possible. Consistency is important as we rely on our volunteers for the daily running of the co-op. We do understand that this may not be possible for everyone – if this is the case for you, please speak with our volunteer coordinator.

Our volunteers help in many areas including in the shop, with admin, in our small garden, with laundry, recycling, goods pick ups and events.

Interested in attending an induction?

Express your interest in attending one of our upcoming inductions by filling out the details below. Please note that due to COVID19 restrictions, we will be capping inductions at 5 people per induction. You will receive an email in the days following your registration to let you know if your attendance has been confirmed. If you are no longer able to attend an induction, we ask that you let us know by responding to that email so that we can go to the next person in line.
